Cavalier Flooring recently had the chance to work on an exciting project in one of Richmond’s fastest-growing neighborhoods—Scott’s Addition. Novel Scott’s Addition is among the area’s first multifamily apartment complexes, featuring a mix of one- and two-bedroom studio apartments and top-floor lofts, all within a five-story wrap building with a striking seven-story corner pop-out.
Our team installed flooring across all 275 living units and multiple shared spaces, including the fireside lounge, library, co-working rooms, dining areas, grilling stations, a dog spa, and a speakeasy. The project came with tight deadlines—30 units needed to be move-in ready each week, including punch list completion. It was a constant juggling act, with moving companies and new tenants arriving as we worked.
Stocking materials was another challenge. With train tracks on one side and a baseball stadium on the other, plus the constant flow of city traffic, there was never an easy time for deliveries. Blocking off streets to unload 160,000 square feet of LVT, 200,000 square feet of ceramic tile, 12,000 square yards of carpet, and countless pallets of setting materials and accessories wasn’t always popular with passing school bus drivers and commuters, but we made it work.
In the end, the effort paid off. The finished space showcases a thoughtful mix of products from our Fuse vendors—Shaw Contract LVT and Mohawk broadloom in every living space, Emser tile in bathrooms and kitchen backsplashes, Shaw carpet tile in the speakeasy, and Emser tile in the fireside lounge. Additional materials from Flexco, Kuberit, Mapei, Maxxon, Milliken, and Schönox helped tie everything together. The result is a modern, luxurious design that still reflects the historic character of Richmond.
