This project consisted of 2 phases in which 5 buildings were renovated. Our scope included moisture remediation, floor prep, 400 grit polished concrete, MetroFlor LVT at back of house, J&J Kinetex throughout and Flexco rubber wall base and stair treads.
Extensive floor prep was needed throughout the building to prepare the substrate to receive our flooring materials. We partnered with Maxxon using their MVP One Moisture Barrier & Self-Leveler Pump System to increase efficiency and provide cost-savings.
We initially installed Metroflor LVT in Phase 1 and advised the GC that window coverings would be needed to protect the areas that were directly exposed to sunlight or we’d risk the LVT buckling with the extreme temperature fluctuations, but they requested we proceed without them. Shortly thereafter, the LVT started buckling in those sunlit areas and the client was not happy. The GC asked us to recommend another product that wouldn’t have the same issue, so we recommended J+J Kinetex. They approved it on the condition that we could get the material and complete the replacement in a matter of weeks, and we did just that. Everyone was very pleased with the finished install and the GC covered all costs associated with the replacement.

Stern, and Rockwell Group, where she served as a studio leader, Thiel’s extensive portfolio includes single-family homes and multi-story residences, hotels, restaurants, retail, fitness clubs, offices, theaters, schools and shopping centers. She is a member of the AIA, holds NCARB certification and is a LEED accredited professional. Prior to her career in architecture, Thiel was a dancer and choreographer.
