Red Commercial once again teamed up with one of its amazing partners Kitchell Contractors on a project that was out of town and going to be a challenge for everyone involved with an escalated timeline for completion. About a 2-hour drive east of Phoenix we were faced with one of the worst subfloors we have seen, we were challenged with merging two existing buildings together built decades apart. 30,000sf of existing concrete that was 1/4″, 1″, 2″, and 3″ in height differences, multiple recessed areas up to 2″ deep filled with metal plates from existing MRI rooms that were nonremovable. Not to mention this was all pre-construction so it had to be perfect and ready for framing in the following week. 2160 bags of Sika, 15 of our own in-house installers we were able to complete this floor prep in just one week, after framing and drywall we were able once again to ramp up our crew Luzania Installation team (which knocked it out of the park) and get this amazing, finished floor complete with critical deadlines for the Hospital. Nancy Thiel, founder and principal of Thiel Architecture + Design, is a licensed architect and an interior designer. With 40+ years’ experience working with luminaries in the architecture world, including Michael Graves, Robert A.M. Stern, and Rockwell Group, where she served as a studio leader, Thiel’s extensive portfolio includes single-family homes and multi-story residences, hotels, restaurants, retail, fitness clubs, offices, theaters, schools and shopping centers. She is a member of the AIA, holds NCARB certification and is a LEED accredited professional. Prior to her career in architecture, Thiel was a dancer and choreographer.
Thiel Architecture + Design is an award-winning multi-disciplinary architecture, interior design, planning, and product design firm with offices in CT and NY. The firm’s work focuses on high-end residential design as well as hospitality, contract, and retail projects. Thiel Architecture + Design’s work has been featured in Interior Design, Architype, New York and Connecticut Cottages and Gardens, Connecticut Magazine, Archello, and Fast Company magazines. In 2022, the firm received a Connecticut AIA Excellence award for Interior Architecture. Thiel earned a BA from Penn State University and her Master of Architecture degree from Syracuse University.
