Best Flooring Solution
The tired appearance of this facility was in dire need of an update. The old ceramic tile was cracked in many places and the old carpet was dated and worn, fraying at the seams. Patterned Durkan Hospitality carpet from Mohawk was selected along with Tarkett Perceptions 4.5″ cove base to cover wall damage from removing the older 4″ wood base. Daltile ceramic tile in the servery, and Ardex GPS was used throughout for the floor prep. The update has been very well received by the residents.
Toughest Site Conditions
During the COVID Pandemic, our installers were required to wear masks and face shields to protect the elderly occupants of this facility, which was fully open throughout the renovation. Work had to be completed in phases, mostly at night, and turned over in short time frames in order to keep the kitchen and dining facilities open. Dust from the demolition had to be completely contained. Suite doors had to be constantly monitored and caution taped so residents would not be exposed to slip and trip hazards during the installation in the hallways, and noise had to be kept to a bare minimum as the work was performed after hours right outside the suites.

She is a member of the AIA, holds NCARB certification and is a LEED accredited professional. Prior to her career in architecture, Thiel was a dancer and choreographer.
