This project is the 2nd campus building for CPI Security and the new company headquarters in Charlotte, NC. The majority of the floors are access floor panels in the open area work areas. The challenge was to specify and use products in these areas that did not use adhesives and would also hide the panel corner imperfections.
We installed Tandus / Tarkett carpet tiles with Ethos backing and Tandus Tape for the soft surface areas over access flooring. When testing the resilient areas with loose lay LVP product options, it was apparent that the corners would telegraph through and show. The final solution was a solid core floating LVP product by Metro Floor. This is a wide and long plank format that did not allow for the sub floor panels to telegraph and provide the owner with the wide plank look he desired.
The Johnsonite one-piece stair tread and riser package on all stair wells was paired with Tandus walk off carpet tiles at each landing, instead of typical matching rubber tiles, to help with walk off foot debris in as many areas as possible in the facility.
