Dollarama Bonnyville

Cutting Edge Contract FLooring Ltd

Design by: JP Sauter Architects

Bonnyville, Alberta

This was the worst subfloor we’ve ever seen and it had to be made perfectly smooth to accept VCT in a 10,000 square foot retail space with floor length windows along two walls. The substrate had loose rocks and aggregate with metal, conduit and wood buried beneath the surface and complete plumbing penetrations in several spots. Our crews took out over 75 canisters of loose aggregate and fill from the area before we could start grinding, priming and filling. This was a massive filling job using 491 bags of Ardex K-22F, 98 bags of Ardex K-34, 40 bags of V-1200, 20 bags of TL1000, 97 bags of Ardex Feather Finish  and 20 gallons of Ardex P-51 Primer. Unfortunately, we never took actual photos of the site, only video walk throughs, so I had to extract the photos from the video, so they are not the pixel size the submission requests. Hopefully they can still be used. After floor prep we installed VCT and Johnsonite 4″ cove base throughout the space. I have included two finish photos to show the level of prep we arrived at.
