Garmon & Company successfully executed the flooring installation at Brenner Children's Hospital, partnering with FUSE partners Mohawk, Johnsonite, and Daltile to deliver cost-efficient solutions, strategic planning, and minimal material waste, all while maintaining high-quality standards in a complex, occupied hospital environment. Located in the largest hospital in the Greensboro area, the project spanned over 17,200sf of LVT across 10 phases and required careful adherence to safety protocols, noise ordinances, and tight scheduling to prevent disruption of critical hospital operations. Originally designed for colorful sheet vinyl flooring with intricate patterns to run through the entire space, after collaboration with the design team, they opted to switch from sheet vinyl to Mohawk LVT in the corridor spaces. This still achieved the desired aesthetic while significantly reducing costs. This transition maintained durability, color vibrancy, and the seamless flooring solution needed, despite the phased nature of the project. Over 5,000lf of Johnsonite base was installed, alongside Daltile ceramic tile finishes in multiple restroom areas, ensuring a cohesive look and long-lasting quality across various hospital zones. To maintain seamless execution across the ten phases, Garmon & Company employed advanced laser mapping technology combined with hand-drawn reference lines to ensure accurate alignment throughout the installation. This precise technique was crucial for pattern continuity, especially as temporary walls were removed between phases. Our experienced crew minimized waste and ensured precise material use, avoiding unnecessary reordering and reducing costs. We also strategically allocated adhesives, patching, and accessory materials from our existing inventory to assist in internal cost reductions. Strict material tracking protocols were implemented to prevent loss and keep the project on budget, leading to significant savings—up to tens of thousands of dollars—while delivering a high-quality flooring installation. By partnering with trusted FUSE member and employing innovative, resource-maximizing strategies, Garmon & Company completed the project without exceeding budget constraints, demonstrating our commitment to excellence and efficiency in every phase of the project.
