Details:
Society Atlanta is a brand-new, 31-story, 460-unit mixed-use development designed by Cooper Carry and constructed by Juneau Construction Company. Located in the heart of Midtown, this social apartment community features extensive amenities, thoughtfully designed spaces, and vibrant community areas. The project includes two levels of office space, 23 residential levels, and four levels dedicated to parking and retail.
Our team played a crucial role in delivering high-quality flooring solutions across the building. The corridors of 22 residential floors were outfitted with Milliken carpet tile, requiring meticulous pattern correction due to a misalignment in Milliken’s print pattern affecting specific tile numbers. We pre-sorted, stacked, and verified the corrected tiles in our warehouse before delivering them to the site for installation. Milliken collaborated with us to dye blend certain tiles and reprint others, ensuring a flawless final product. The complexity of this process added significant logistical challenges, as we had to reconstruct the pattern before transport and reassemble it on-site with precision.
In the units, we installed 270,000 square feet of owner-supplied LVT, requiring careful coordination across multiple floors with tight schedules. In the lobby, our team encountered a mysterious liquid stain emerging through the concrete after polishing had begun. Using Ameripolish concrete stain from JonDon, our skilled installation team expertly blended another stain color to seamlessly mask the affected areas, ensuring a visually consistent and high-quality finish.
Another major challenge arose in the elevator lobbies on each floor, where the concrete was up to 1.5 inches out of compliance. With the elevator thresholds already installed, we had to develop an immediate solution to keep the project on track. Our team utilized Mapei Novaplan self-leveling compound to correct the elevation discrepancies, allowing for a smooth transition and proper installation of the owner-supplied ceramic tile.
Best Flooring Solution Entry:
The flooring solutions for Society Atlanta required adaptability, precision, and expert execution. Our work in the corridors involved meticulous pattern correction for Milliken carpet tile, ensuring a visually cohesive result despite the initial misalignment issue. In the lobby, our application of Ameripolish concrete stain successfully concealed unexpected staining that emerged during polishing. The use of Mapei Novaplan self-leveling compound in the elevator lobbies provided a crucial solution to floor height discrepancies, allowing for the seamless installation of ceramic tile. These tailored approaches ensured a high-quality, durable, and visually stunning flooring solution throughout the entire development.
Toughest Site Conditions Entry:
Executing flooring installations in a 31-story high-rise presents inherent challenges, but Society Atlanta took complexity to another level. With the building’s elevators down for most of the project, our team had to manually transport all materials, tools, and supplies across 22 floors of corridor and unit installations. This required extensive logistical coordination to ensure that materials arrived at each floor in the correct sequence to avoid delays. Additionally, our expert installation crews had to physically carry heavy materials up multiple flights of stairs, significantly increasing both the labor intensity and time required to complete the scope. The additional hurdles of misaligned carpet tile patterns, unpredictable concrete staining, and out-of-compliance elevator lobbies required creative problem-solving at every stage. By leveraging warehouse pre-sorting, expert stain blending, and precise self-leveling applications, we overcame these challenges to deliver a flawless installation under demanding conditions.
