Details:
Woodard & Curran, Maine’s largest engineering firm, recently moved into a state-of-the-art office space spanning the fifth and sixth floors of a new waterfront building in Portland’s Old Port. Designed to support flexibility and a wide range of work styles, the office follows a “democratized space” concept—eliminating private offices in favor of reservable focus rooms, small collaboration areas, and shared workspaces. The new location also houses a National Learning Center, serving more than 1,200 employees across 27 locations nationwide.
Guided by their vision of fostering communication, collaboration, and innovation, the space is open, airy, and filled with natural light—offering sweeping views of Casco Bay and the city skyline. It is intentionally designed to accommodate both full-time office users and remote employees visiting for meetings or team collaboration.
As the flooring contractor for this dynamic project, our team expertly installed a variety of materials, many sourced through our Fuse partners, to create a cohesive and inspiring environment. The flooring selections played a key role in establishing the office’s calm, bright, and inviting aesthetic. Bold colors in the shared break area enhance energy and positivity, complemented by durable, low-maintenance LVT flooring. A warm sitting space featuring a stunning, floor-to-ceiling tiled fireplace provides a comfortable retreat. The peaceful nursing rooms are grounded with soft, neutral carpets, while the grand foyer’s linear-patterned carpet tiles mirror the gentle movement of Casco Bay’s waters.
Every detail was a collaborative effort, bringing the client’s vision to life in a way that exceeded expectations, creating a space that not only supports productivity but also embodies the firm’s culture and future-focused approach.
