City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center

On a Tuesday, Christian Brothers Flooring and Interiors (CBFI) received a call from their General Contractor partner, Hensel Phelps (HP), that there was an integral need to mobilize on 30,000 square feet of moisture mitigation and self-leveling. A pre-mobilization meeting was held the following day on Wednesday, and on Saturday, CBFI mobilized on-site to meet this extraordinary request and aggressive timeline. Through extensive support from Uzin Utz, company-wide collaboration, and immense communication with HP, CBFI completed this task in less than two weeks. The job was nowhere near done - that work was solely on level 1, with 3 more levels of extensive floor preparation and self-leveling to be completed. The existing substrates within this building proved to present a number of challenges: substrates 1"-2" out of tolerance, operating rooms requiring 1/16" flatness tolerance to accommodate medical equipment, and outstanding crack repair needs, among many others. More than 7,000 bags of Uzin NC 150 self-leveling were used on this project. Despite these obstacles, CBFI was able to overcome and contribute to a beautiful facility that will undoubtedly change thousands upon thousands of lives. Over 2,000 square yards of Shaw Carpet, 70,000 square feet of Matter Surfaces bio-polyurethane based flooring, and 25,000 lineal feet of Tarkett rubber wall base were installed to make this all possible.
