Details:

This project was a 12-floor remodel project in a high-rise building in downtown Houston. Intex Flooring’s scope consisted of 7,500 sq. ft. of floor tile in restrooms, 12,500 sf of wall tile in restrooms, vestibules, and cafés. Also 10,000 sq. yds. of carpet tiles throughout the office areas. Everything was on an aggressive schedule working day and night shifts during a supply chain and shipping crisis with COVID restrictions to top it off. Due to the hard completion deadline, Intex Flooring changed the construction order of operations to assist in maintaining the schedule. Coordination was critical in the shift change to ensure one crew could pick up where the previous crew left off. The project required epoxy grout all tile locations which caused more difficulties in procuring material. We also used massive amounts of floor prep at all carpet locations to meet the elevations of the demountable walls. In the end, with frustrations, blood, sweat, and tears the project was turned over on time with a quality installation and minimal punch list items.
